Most evaluations, examinations, diagnosis and treatment can be carried out in the comfort of your own home, office or hotel room. There are many portable lab analyzers enabling me to conduct quick turn around studies on location. Many medications can be dispensed at the end of the visit. Some will require a prescription. Injections can be given at the time of the visit. I will take the time to discuss the diagnosis and answer any questions. This will usually not happen in an Urgent Care Clinic or an ER.
I do not accept insurance. The home or hotel or any site where an examination occurs is hardly the place to deal with it. The sick and ill, it goes without saying, are not usually up to filling out a stack of forms. About 25% of the state’s population is medically uninsured. Many more are covered, but pay high deductibles, co-pays and total percentages of their bill. For all of these people, my services generally end up costing LESS than standard care. Meanwhile, for those who do have comprehensive insurance and are interested in filing a claim, I will be more than happy to supply the necessary information, the history and physical and the diagnoses and treatments with their ICD codes, so that they can apply for reimbursement.
A relatively old but recently revived type of medical practice is concierge medicine. Whether your family requires frequent visits to the hospital or Doctor’s office or simply desires immediate and special attention by your family physician, the option of placing a Doctor on retainer by means of a monthly or annual fee may actually be the most economical choice. Mutually convenient scheduling can be linked to this method of practice. Businesses benefit greatly from concierge services, as well. Whether your staff has periodic medical needs and/or obligations or you would prefer onsite management of a problem, an office call Doctor can arrive and see patients at their place of work, without the large disruption associated with emergency care or standard office visits. At the end of the day, time is money, and I can save you both!
