For example, IM administration of ceftrioxone entails a charge for the sterile water for injection, the vial of ceftriaxone and a charge for the syringe needle, alcohol wipes, band aide IV fluids require a whole IV tubing and medline and plastic bladder of saline or 5% dextrous in water to which the IV antibiotic or medication is added. A short post administration period is used for observation and retaking of vital signs. Some common injectables are antibiotics, pain relievers (including narcotics and specific migraine remedies) and some asthma meds.
Other procedures, which might be indicated, include looking at the vocal cords for hoarseness, making a miniscule incision in the ear drum (myringotomy) for painful and feverish middle ear infection. Wounds can be sutured. The charge will depend on the size and complexity of the laceration.
